Ascalon Rebuilding Effort?
Personally, I think this would "renew" the interest in exploring/re-exploring ascalon/tyria if there was more geographic and event changes.
One big one I think may work is "Rebuilding Ascalon" I'm sure one could make a few more zones, and if not that, a few "elite areas/missions/battles" similar to Amatz Basin (protect people while gathering material, engineers, builders) Make it similar to a "weeklong" kind of event... or a month. That way those of us "veterans" could share stories of how we grew up in an Ascalon that was wartorn and destroyed... give it some actual "past".

Id liek to see them make continuations towards the southern part. Totally rebuilding it may ruin the game for some of the newer players so you cant totally renew the POS ascalon. More zones is a good idea!

It would not make much sense to anyone coming out of pre-searing, after watching the searing cut scene, to find Ascalon looking exactly the same.

Now that would be good. Between Regent Valley and Thunderhead Keep there is room for it to be added. Must have been excluded because it would be a big shortcut :P

With the Gate system it would be completely possible... After beating the game you have access to these gates let me cook something up real quick.
Version #1
"Renewing the Effort"
Given from that dude in the Ascalon Settlement (Kryta). Apparently there are a few areas of Ascalon that are being rebuilt (New outposts would be created). Although the citizens have a large goal, their task force isn't anywhere near completing it. So you get the silly task of carrying bricks back and forth, helping deliver food, Basically nothing serious. These areas would look like a mix between destroyed Ascalon and Pre-searing.
Upon entrance there would be green patches of grass being plotted, pools of sludge being drained, buildings in the beginning process of being built. But as you go further into the outpost it would be more developed with pre-searing style buildings and what not. These areas would be unavailable to noobs because they would need to beat the game. How could keep them out? A large wall similiar to the Great Wall would be in the southern portion of Ascalon near the bottom (To the noobs they wouldn't question it, and just think its a border to the edge of the map) There would be a gate that you would go through (An NPC who would check if you have the quest) And tada thats about it..
Version #2
Same quest, but instead of this area being in Ascalon, you go up from the Southern Shiverpeeks to where Wizard's Folly was. Its being rebuilt, you help out.

Great ideas people... and true didn't think about the "pre-searing" to "post-searing" thing.... Hell if anything, make an extended cutscene... bringing them up to date. It DOES skip us forward a year or so technically, yes? Well have it jump another year ahead and show the "heroes" running with Rurik to push back the Charr or something... (or make it even more interesting and have it show your tyrian-based characters that have completed ascalon missions running along beside him doing stuff)
Keep the ideas and suggestions comming, tell a friend of a friend, ect. See if we can't help "rebuilding" interest in Prophecies ^_^

Also, if anything and if they don't wanna make new zones that effect the original landscape.. there's always instanced areas, like with Sorrows, or even the recent "Dragon Festival" missions (Captain Rujiyo) where it took you to those areas, but yet made them different. I know there's a ton of ways to go with it, but if anything keep bringing the ideas!

I doubt Rurik pushes Charr back much ever since he died at Shiverpeaks... Not to mention he died second time at Ring of Fire.

Getting owned by the Charr?
After completing the game, you get to do the Titan Quests, which of one, Last Day Dawns is placed in Ascalon, where obviously Charr had ran amok whole time (Rurik and our heroes fled Ascalon after all in the storyline) so there's not much room for progress.

Love the suggestions made here.
Even more so is the 'gate' feature.
The same feature should be implemented at Beacons so that Lornas Pass and dreadnaughts can have a reduction on those annoying anti run monsters, which really do not stop players running others to droks but makes it a hell for those who need the area explored.
Sorry if this is off-topic.
Back to topic.
I think thaqt tyria deserves to have a few elite areas introduced other the ones we have.
Do Arena Net read this forum?

We can hope and pray they do ^_^
I'm not 100% sure nor accurate on "how" exactly things should be... but just ideas.
I can only speak for myself, but personally in owning prophecies and factions, I don't have any supreme reason for going back to tyria at all. I think that after a year the charr scorched things there should be some sort of rebuilding effort...
Hehe, I like the idea of having a post-post-searing after you beat the last mission, but can come back to complete exploring, missions and whatnot... Have all new missions, people, terrain changes, monsters, drops... that'd be spiffy, but I'm dreaming...
Anet... it'd make people buy prophecies if they just have factions!!! ^_^

You only get to return to your homeland in the titan quests, and then your homeland is still a bubbling tar pit dotted with ruins.
There's tonnes of space in little pockets like the north/south for a little rebuilt town (perhaps like warcamp) which could lead to a sepearately mapped ara (like FoW, UW, SF Urgoz etc) so you can make it HUGE but it wont cut into the map, since its not mapped.

They could add a "re-building Ascalon" after you've finished the Titan quests. Give them a purpose finally.

I know Jeff Strain said no more additions to Tyria, but we need something additional somewhere. Factions is so sad on content that most of my guild has left to await Chapter 3 /pout.
